Your visa process, clearly explained.

Get clear answers to common questions about applying for a visa to study or work abroad.

1Which visa route fits my plans?

The right visa route depends on your purpose — study, work, tourism or business — your citizenship and the country where you live. Many nationalities can enter Georgia visa-free for short stays; a longer stay for study or work needs the matching visa or a residence permit. We help you understand the available options and what fits your goals.

2What documents should I prepare?

Usually a valid passport, the application form, a photo and a document that shows your purpose — for students the university’s invitation or enrollment letter. Most routes also ask for proof of funds, accommodation and health insurance. Some documents need a certified translation or legalization. We give you the exact checklist for your route.

3Where do I submit my application?

Long-stay visas such as the D3 study visa are applied for online through GeoConsul and the Georgian embassy or consulate responsible for the country where you live. Eligible nationalities can apply for a short-stay visa on the e-Visa portal. Residence permits are submitted in Georgia, at the Public Service Hall.

4How can I track my progress?

Once we start working together, our team keeps you updated at every step — document check, submission and decision — by email and messages. A personal online account to follow your application is coming soon.

5What happens after arrival?

Register at your university or employer, move into your accommodation and apply for your residence permit before your permitted stay ends. Our local team helps with airport pickup, registration and every step at the Public Service Hall.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is there an age limit for admission?

None of our partner universities in Georgia has an upper age limit. SEU requires applicants to be at least 18, and the University of Georgia asks applicants over 30 to talk to its staff first.

Can I apply after finishing 10 grades?

No. Every university requires a full secondary school diploma for Bachelor’s and one-cycle programs.

Does my graduation year matter?

No. You can apply with an older diploma (for example from 2010, 2012 or 2015) as long as it is valid and recognized.

What happens if my visa is refused?

All partner universities refund the tuition you paid when you show official proof of the refusal. Most refund the full amount.

How many times a year do programs start?

Most universities have two intakes, Fall and Spring. European University admits students once a year, in the Autumn semester.

Do I need national exams?

No. International applicants are admitted without Georgia’s Unified National Exams, through document recognition by NCEQE and a decision by the Ministry of Education.

Do I need an English certificate?

Most universities ask for B2 level (for example IELTS 5.5–6.0 or TOEFL iBT around 61–78). If you have no certificate, almost every university offers an internal English test or interview. Georgian Technical University asks for B1.

Do my documents need to be translated?

Usually yes: most universities need your passport, diploma and transcript translated into Georgian and notarized (Alterbridge University asks for English translations). Our Local Student Support team handles translation and notarization in Georgia.

Are the programs really taught in English?

Yes. Every program in our list is fully taught in English.

Which visa do I need?

The D3 immigration visa for studying in Georgia. Citizens of visa-exempt countries (for example the EU, USA, UAE, Israel and Turkey) may enter visa-free for up to one year. After arrival you apply for a residence permit before your legal stay expires.
