Admission, documents, visa and life in Georgia: short answers to the questions students ask us most.
Studying in Georgia
Is there an age limit for admission?
None of our partner universities in Georgia has an upper age limit. SEU requires applicants to be at least 18, and the University of Georgia asks applicants over 30 to talk to its staff first.
Can I apply after finishing 10 grades?
No. Every university requires a full secondary school diploma for Bachelor’s and one-cycle programs.
Does my graduation year matter?
No. You can apply with an older diploma (for example from 2010, 2012 or 2015) as long as it is valid and recognized.
Which documents do I need to apply?
Usually your passport, school certificate with transcript (or Bachelor’s diploma for a Master’s), a 3×4 photo and an English certificate if you have one. Some universities also ask for a CV, motivation letter or video.
Do I need national exams?
No. International applicants are admitted without Georgia’s Unified National Exams, through document recognition by NCEQE and a decision by the Ministry of Education.
How long does admission take?
After the university submits your documents to NCEQE, the Ministry of Education decides in about 5 days to 1 month.
Do I need an English certificate?
Most universities ask for B2 level (for example IELTS 5.5–6.0 or TOEFL iBT around 61–78). If you have no certificate, almost every university offers an internal English test or interview. Georgian Technical University asks for B1.
Do my documents need to be translated?
Usually yes: most universities need your passport, diploma and transcript translated into Georgian and notarized. Our local team handles translation and notarization in Georgia.
Are the programs really taught in English?
Yes. Every program in our list is fully taught in English.
How many times a year do programs start?
Most universities have two intakes, Fall and Spring. European University admits students once a year, in the Autumn semester.
Which visa do I need?
The D3 immigration visa for studying in Georgia. Citizens of visa-exempt countries (for example the EU, USA, UAE, Israel and Turkey) may enter visa-free for up to one year. After arrival you apply for a residence permit before your legal stay expires.
What happens if my visa is refused?
All partner universities refund the tuition you paid when you show official proof of the refusal. Most refund the full amount.
Do you help after I arrive in Georgia?
Yes. We pick you up at the airport, help with accommodation, the residence permit and university registration, and stay available on WhatsApp for everyday questions.
How much is the tuition?
Most programs in our list cost between 3,000 and 10,000 USD a year. Medicine (MD) costs 4,500–6,500 USD a year, depending on the university. Georgian Technical University charges its fees in Georgian lari. The exact fee of every program is in our program list.
